Friends of Fleays is the volunteer organisation supporting the David Fleay Wildlife Park on Queensland’s Gold Coast.
The David Fleay Wildlife Park is the only park on the Gold Coast where you can see the platypus.
The Park was opened in 1952 by the ‘father of conservation’, David Fleay (1907-93), best known for being the first person to breed the platypus. In 1983 he handed the Park for safe-keeping to the Queensland National Parks and Wildlife Service to continue research, conservation, breeding of native animals and education of the community.
The Friends of Fleays Association supports the David Fleay Wildlife Park. We are committed to:
conservation of the environment,
preservation of Queensland’s wildlife,
assisting in research on threatened species,
education of the community, and
keeping David Fleay’s dream alive.
